I have been considering using the luggage forward services (probably Yamato) for my next trip to Japan, but wondering what people's experiences have been with having your luggage arrive a day or two before you check in? In some senses I want to leap frog my big bag, while keeping my carry-on with me. EG… places not totally finalised…
Tokyo 6 nights,
(send big bag to Osaka)
Hiroshima 2 nights, Osaka 5 nights,
(send big bag to Kyoto)
Kinosaki Onsen 1 night,
Kyoto 4 nights,
(send big bag to Tokyo)
Kanazawa 1 night,
Tokyo last two nights.
Before I go contact the hotels to see if there is an issue, I thought I would ask if others have tried something like this. Having your bag arrive a day or two before you get to a place? Most of the places I am staying are 3-4 star places, all with manned receptions, if that makes a difference.
