Teacher in the US contemplating teaching in Japan

Hello!

Allow me to apologize if I missed any "sticky" posts on noob questions that I'm going to ask. So I've always dreamt of teaching abroad, most notably China or Japan. I found a great job in China, did all the heavy lifting to get approved, visa, housing, everything. Two weeks into my job, they start talking about closing the borders because, well of course Covid had hit. So I take the first flight I can and got out of there.

3 years later, I'm getting the itch again, but this time I feel like I want to look more at Japan. I have visited, but only for a short time, but there are many things that I love about Japan that I'm not going to get into. As for me as a professional, I have a BA in Middle Education with minors in ELA and Social Studies. I have a MA in ECE with a minor in literacy. So I guess my question is where should I start my research. I'm still probably a year away from making this kind of move. I want to teach, but I don't know how low I need to start to get a "real" teaching job at a school/uni. Is a career move like this even possible? I know in Europe you cant teach in a traditional school with a teaching degree/license from the US, so I'm curious if that is similar for Japan?

*Edit: I am currently licensed in multiple States and have experience.

Thoughts? TIA
