Only you can answer that question, honestly. Are you big theme park people? If not then no, Japan has tons of other places that don’t require you to spend a lot of money to wait in endless queues.
Unless your 5 year old is obsessed with Mario and wants to go to Super Nintendo world or Harry Potter I probably wouldn’t. Most of the rides are more for teens/adults and you can only skip the queues by buying express passes in packs that you don’t really get to choose the rides.
At least with Disneyland/DisneySea there’s some free express passes you can get on the app throughout the day or you can pay for specific premier access passes that you want so I think it’s just a better experience. We took our 6 year old for Super Nintendo world and spent pretty much all day in the one area.
I thought it was worth it but I went without small kids, bought the express pass and it was during Horror Nights so we also got to experience the Haunted Houses. It was a lot cheaper than buying all of that in Hollywood so yes a big dent in the budget, but I didn’t mind. We don’t really like Disney much so that was an easy choice for us between the 2, and I wouldn’t need to go again on our next trip, but I’m glad I went!
If you’ve been to Universal Studios in the US, no.
Just got back from USJ. Most wait times were upwards of 2-2.5 hours per ride. The monster hunter cafe was fantastic. IMO, Super Nintendo world was pretty but not great for adults. Way better for kids.
Up to you if you’re willing to wait
if you’re going: you need an extra entry pass for nintendo world, the entry ticket doesn’t cover nintendo world.
It’s free, but request the entry ticket in the app as early as possible on the day you’re visiting. We didn’t know about it and requested it only around 11am, resulting in a timed entry slot around 8pm ._.
Im not a themepark person, but holy cow universal osaka harry porter is a sight to behold
Go to Disney Sea Instead. USJ has no tram tour, but they have the Waterworld show.
The Warner Bros Making of Harry Potter Tour in Tokyo was fantastic in my opinion, being fans of the books and movies. So many cool things to see. We easily spent half a day there. The tour was well designed and executed, and the staff were amazing! If you plan to go, I’d recommend getting Hedwig’s wand at the gift shop as an awesome souvenir.
