Need to file late for 2023 what to do?

I havent received anything by mail, just the new health insurance that went from 3500yen to 13500yen, and i think this is because i didnt file 2023.

I did not have any income i just arrived in october 2023 and was living from savings.

What do i need? My number? Any other document or credential? Where do I have to go?

Edit: This is resolved!, Thanks for all your comments. I went to the ward office and they made me fill an income declaration for hokensho premium calculations. Thanks!

  1. Your ward office, they should know what to do – probably filling a residence tax return.

  2. BTW, most people don’t file taxes in Japan. If you make over 20M, get a mortgage, or have very special deductions, you have to file.

Otherwise most people just do the “nenmatsu chosei” via their employer. Or if they’re unemployed, students, under 20, or receive salary under the table, they do even less…
