I applied randomly and got an interview invitation for next week. it’s kind of unexpected (to get an interview invite), and the more I think (getting this job), the more I feel excited about it. However, the thing I know most about Japan is its food. I wonder if anyone here can give me a tip or two about how best I should do when interviewing with Japanese?
A bit of context: It’s a global company that is very popular and widely known. I know a lot about them due to working in the same industry but different companies, so I know in and out their products and all the job-related matters. I just wanna know about the “interview etiquette”. I heard a lot about their working culture, and one thing that stands out is they are pretty traditionally Japanese no matter where they go, meaning structured and punctual, maybe a bit hard working as well. The interview is booked for 30 mins only, and it’s with HR, so I need to get past this culture check first. I am from Asia, I know fairly well their culture but only from a tourist perspective I’d say. I have lived in Europe for the past 2 years, and generally, I’m more free and open-minded (compared to the general Asian standards), so I know I’ll have to watch what I say and do a lot if I’m back in Asia. I guess my question is kinda like, what would they wanna hear? They would want a dedicated, hardworking person, or are they open to opinions and taking initiative? It’s a mid-senior position, so I am not entirely exclusive. It's a marketing job and the company is a retailer. What should I NOT say or act during an interview with Japanese?
If anyone can help me get some insights, I appreciate it a lot. 🙏
