Itinerary Check: Tokyo


I am traveling to Japan in July and am spending 3-4 days (still flexible in Tokyo). What do you think about the following itinerary? Is there anything that should be added? Are the days too full? Note that we will also be taking a separate day/night to Hakone.

Shinjuku District: DAY X

  • Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
  • Meiji Shrin
  • Yoyogi Park
  • Takeshita Street
  • Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observatory
  • Mag’s Parl Rooftop view of Shibuya Crossing
  • Shibuya Crossing
  • Omoide Yokocho (Landmark alleyway featuring a selection of food stalls)
  • Golden-Gai (Festive, popular city district famed for its narrow, winding alleys)
  • Harajuku: Walked down Omotensando st.
  • Optional: Togo Shrine, Godzilla Head, Kabukicho District, Harajuku: Walked down Omotensando st.

Asakusa District: DAY Y

  • Senso-ji Temple
  • Kaminarimon Gate (leads to Senso-ji Temple)
  • Nakamise-Dori Street
  • Tokyo Sky Tree
  • Ueno Park (or does it go on a different day?)
  • Akihabara Electric Town? (not far from Ueno park – 18 min walk)
  • National Museume
  • Kappabashi Street – restaurant supply market (link)
  • Optional: Sumida Park, Sumida Riverside, Origami Museum, Samurai Ninja Museum, Japanese Sword Museum

Ginza District: DAY Z

  • Tsukiji Outer Market → Toyosu Market
  • Ginza SIX Shopping
  • Yamaha Store
  • Tokyo Imperial Palace:
  • Tokyo Tower
