Hello, feeling pretty burnt out looking into visa options for months now to make the right choices. lots of trial and error – long story. I found one that only applies living in tokyo only – the "startup" 6 month business visa, that is different from any startup visa. (my business is not a startup).
Scenario 1 – tokyo only "start up" business visa
Its 6 months to come over get 5 mil yen funding and your office sorted then business visa after. Which is arguable much easier than going straight for the business visa. I will have to do it through an immigration lawyer because unfortunately I found out about this visa too late into my stay and can't complete the process myself. I think this whole process will take about 5 months total. 1 month decision, 3 months coe decisions 1month for misc processing times. (i think maybe a little faster since this time of year seems to be slower for visas.)
Does anyone know some trust immigration lawyers who are fast and not going to break the bank?
Scenario 2 – have a japanese business partner create the business. I have a person willing to do this and then invite me over, however I can't seem to find too much info online about what we would need to make this happen and how long it would take etc. I have been told this is usually the easiest for foreigners. Does anyone have experience with this or know more about what this visa actually is? overall this may seem like a better deal but i'm not sure?
really appreciate the insight, its a lot of research and i'm down to the wire – have to make a decision. my goal is to be in japan on a proper visa (not tourist) in the new year.
