Citizenship by descent AU/JP: Evidence of birth

I apologize if this has already been answered, but I searched this subreddit and couldn't find a definitive answer.

I have already started the application for citizen by descent for my son (2 1/2 y.o.) (I Aus, wife Jpn). But I just got an email from immigration asking for evidence of birth. They say they need:

"● full name

● date of birth

● place of birth

● date of issue

● date of registration

● names of parents (if available)."

The thing is, in my application I have already submitted my wife's koseki tohon with its NATTI approved translation. So what else do I need to provide? I wonder if they have issue with "full name" as it only lists my son's given name and "date of registration" as there is only the date of when the document was requested. The problem with the website is that there is no way to ask for more information.

I know there is another document but that is if both parents are non-Japanese. My wife is Japanese, so no issues there. I checked the Australian embassy in Tokyo website and it states:

If born overseas (including in Japan):

  • Foreign Birth Certificate (In Japan: Koseki Tohon

I know Australian immigration/Home Affairs is not the same but after reading other people's experience, I am confused as to why I am going through this problem? I had a similar issue with my lawyers processing my wife's partner visa. They also kept asking for my son's birth certificate and our marriage certificate after I had already given them the translated koseki tohon. I chalked it up to their incompetence as I was reassured by 2 separate NAATI translators that I had given the correct document.
