Advice on teaching on the side in groups

I’ve been teaching English for a few years now and have recently moved cities. I used to teach English every two weeks in groups, but now I’ve lost that actually. I really liked that style of teaching and am wanting to do that again, but don’t know how to go about finding students since it’s under the table. Any ideas? Especially from people who have done this before. Do I put out fliers? The last group I was teaching for was just handed to me. Anyway, thanks in advance! Let me know if you have any questions.

  1. You were lucky.

Usually you work for an eikaiwa, and slowly poach students until you build up a lil black book of regulars.

  2. Check your local international association. They might have classes on weekends and be looking for teachers for those.

  3. Try your local Cultural Center/Bunka Hall. They’re usually sort of a community center and have a variety of classes including English. I teach at one and they’re always adding extra students/classes to my roster from kids to adults
