Is a web designer considered part of the humanities visa group?

Currently, I work as an interpreter here on a humanities visa (技人国), but my previous job was as a web designer. I’m considering utilizing my web design skills for side projects, such as selling web templates online and possibly blogging.

However, I’m concerned about whether web design falls under the humanities visa category and how this relates to tax reporting and the legality of my activities. Additionally, I plan to apply for a permanent resident visa (永住) in the future, so I want to ensure I handle everything correctly.

From my online research, designers and creators generally fall under the humanities visa category. However, because web design may involve some JavaScript coding, it seems to straddle the line between fields.

My research indicates that with a humanities visa, I may not need a special work permit to engage in jobs under similar visa categories. However, I’m unsure whether I should apply for a special working permit (like part-time job permit) from my company. Because, when I received my residence card (在留カード), the staff mentioned that I couldn’t do part-time jobs without special permission from my employer, and if I have, I should propose it to the immigration. I’m quite confused about these regulations regarding part-time job permits and visa limitations, and would appreciate insights from those with more experience in this area.

Does anyone have similar experiences or insights to share? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
