Hi everyone,
I’ll be traveling to Japan with 2 of my friends for the second time this December and we are stopping by Kyushu for 3 days (1 day in Fukuoka and 2 days in Kumamoto) and staying in Fukuoka as our main hub in Kyushu area. We need suggestions for our 2 day itinerary in Kumamoto. We will be hiring a private tour guide on one of the days in Kumamoto to have them drive us to Takachiho Gorge, Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and Kusasenri/Mt. Aso area since public transportation seems very limited. They provided us with their sample itinerary (see below). Do you think this is doable all in one day or is it more of a rush and need to booked separate days? We hope to do most of these activities so we can spend the other day exploring within the city of Kumamoto. Would greatly appreciate the feedback!
December 14th (Takachiho Gorge + Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu shrine + Kusasenri/Mt. Aso)

06:30 Depart from Hakata Station to Hugo Ozu Station via Shinkansen and JR local train
09:00 Meet tour guide at Higo Ozu
09:40 Minami Aso viewpoint & local product

Take a walk (don’t think we will be rowing boats since it might be too cold in mid December)
12:30 Have afternoon lunch
13:30 leave Takachiho
14:15 Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu shrine
15:00 leave & drive to the top of Mt Aso
15:45 quick stop at Aso Sanjo
16:00 Kusasenri (free time)
16:50 Komezuka volcano photo stop
17:30-40 arrive back at Higo Ozu
19:30 arrive back at Hakata Station
