Looking to buy a bike soon, I’m a big guy so I don’t really want to buy second hand, I also know that I’ll make good use of it. I have a few in mind and would really like to get an electric assist but unless payment plans are available I’m going to have to settle for a regular bike. Are payment plans a thing for bikes here and if so are they open to foreigners? Thanks.

People normally buy bikes with cash or a credit card. Japanese credit cards have a divided payment option that let’s you make installment payments. That would probably be your best option if you can get one, depending on your job situation and visa. It’s generally very difficult for foreigners to get credit in Japan without permanent residency.
Biccamera offers payment plans without interest. Check their website.
