Hello,
I’m traveling in Japan and really want to climb the Oku-hotaka dake solo in Kamikochi mid-july.
My plan is the following:
Day 1: Arrive in Kamikochi early morning and hike to the Karasawa Hut spending the night there
Day 2: Hike the Seitengrat and spend the night at Hotaka-Dake-Sanso
Day 3: Summit Oku-hotaka dake and descend to either the Karasawa Hut to spend another night or the whole way down to Kamikochi and take a bus back to Matsumoto
I wanted to ask you guys for advice:
Would you consider the climb technically challenging? I’m in good physical shape, but have not done so many technically demanding climbs before
Is it possible to descend the whole way down to Kamikochi in one day, or would you recommend to spend an extra night in a hut on the way down as well?
Is the route clearly marked the whole way? Is it easy to get lost on the way up/down?
