  1. Live music picks for this week!

First, an event I am hosting!

**✨ Friday 5th July ✨** I have teamed up with DJ crew New Action!, who have been organising parties since 2009, to put on a big live music show at Shinjuku MARZ. Three of our favourite bands, no less than five DJs, two VJs, party and music and people and drinks, all right there in Kabukicho—what are you waiting for? I hope you’ll join us: [https://www.instagram.com/p/C65498my90U/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C65498my90U/)

    More great stuff:

**Monday 1st July** Three acts at the absolute forefront of Japanese female alt-rock come together tonight at Shimokitazawa SHELTER: [https://www.instagram.com/p/C68rp_wSH7v/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C68rp_wSH7v/)

**Wednesday 3rd July** Find three alternative music local heroes at Shimokitazawa BASEMENT BAR. The organiser of this one wrote a statement about how she hopes this event will bring people together, so check it out, and show up to feel like you’re part of something: [https://www.instagram.com/p/C8T5h1QyIuc/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C8T5h1QyIuc/)

**Saturday 6th July** Three-piece girl band The Wisely Brothers started as your typical indie J-rock group, but later took a turn into the experimental and improvised. Their new improvisation album ‘On the Eve’ is a unique, dreamy, and somewhat unsettling experience, and this weekend they are taking their performance to Ryoden-ji Temple in Machida for a show that will be truly unlike any other: [https://www.instagram.com/p/C7ocUz4S_by/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7ocUz4S_by/)

**Saturday 6th July** TsuShiMaMiRe are crazy Japanese girl-punk legends. Having just finished a massive US tour, and zipped all across Japan, their final wild show of the tour will be at Shibuya Club Quattro on Saturday: [https://www.instagram.com/p/C7Eie4-yzuA/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7Eie4-yzuA/)

**Monday 8th July** My favourite kind of events are the ones that are impossible to introduce. Where does one even start with this mix of cutting-edge and ultra-cool dance, hip-hop, alt-rock, and more? Better just be there at Shibuya WWW to find out what the heck all this means: [https://www.instagram.com/p/C8raf08ye_R/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C8raf08ye_R/)

  2. I’m going white water rafting on Saturday with the Tokyo Snow Club. Found the event on Meetup.

  3. Zero Tokyo has a Latin tech house event on Friday 5th! The theme is Japanese Matsuri and the description on the site says: On Friday, July 5th, the global party crew “Natalia’s Party” will be holding an event at ZEROTOKYO. Natalia, who has a diverse background, sets a concept and theme for each event.

This time, the theme is Japanese festivals. From their global perspective, ZEROTOKYO as a whole will create a worldview of “matsuri” that combines Latin culture and Japanese culture.

Going beyond the traditional image of a club event, we will incorporate shows, experience booths, and a variety of content, and aim to be a positive place filled with intercultural understanding, connections between people, and love, where international participants gather through the party

It sounds super unusual and interesting to me, though I can’t say I’ve ever even really heard Latin tech house!
