Frustrated with pediatricians in Kanagawa, is this normal?

I’m currently living in Kanagawa and I need some advice about pediatric care here. My kid has been sick with a fever for 2 days and diarrhea for almost a week now. We’ve taken them to two different pediatricians, but I’m feeling concerned about the treatment we've received.

Both doctors did a basic check-up but didn’t run any tests or exams to figure out what viral or bacterial infection it might be. They just concluded my kid just has some 風邪 (common cold) and prescribed some generic drugs like probiotics and acetaminophen for the fever, and told us to tough it out until the sickness subsides.

Is this kind of treatment normal here? It feels like there hasn’t been any proper diagnosis or targeted treatment. I’m used to more thorough examinations and specific treatments back home, so this has me worried.

Would love to hear about your experiences or any advice you might have. TYIA!

Edit: thanks everyone for sharing your own experience about this! I see that the treatment we are receiving is somewhat normal here and understanding that meeting a compatible pediatrician does help! We will keep an eye on the situation and manage accordingly going forward!
