My question is for people who did WHV in the past. What kind of plane ticket did you buy to go to Japan? Did you buy a one way ticket and bought another one when you had to leave? Or were you able to buy a round trip ticket of a year?
I'm planning to go to Japan from October 2024 to October 2025 with a WHV. So I've been looking at plane tickets for a few months to check the prices etc. Actually, I thought about buying a one way ticket (so just to go to Japan, without the return) but it's kind of expensive… By checking the prices, I realized that round trip tickets (to go to Japan and coming back in your country) are cheaper. The thing is that I can't find a round trip ticket which allows me to go to Japan in October 2024, and get back to my country in October 2025. It's only from October to June 2025 for the moment.
Some people who did WHV in the past on the internet said that they bought round trip tickets, and just went to Japan but didn't use the ticket to go back to their country since they were staying for a year. They just bought another plane ticket when they finished their WHV. Or they changed the date of the return, but I'm not sure how to do it and it seems hard with some plane companies…
So I would like to know how some of you did it. I don't know what to do and I don't want any problem at the immigration or anything.
On top of that, my mom will come with me for a month in Japan (so we'll go together and then she'll leave in November.) Would it be suspicious (or anything) if I buy two round trip tickets (from Oct to Nov) because it's cheap but only her leaves and I miss the plane for example? Or should I just buy a different ticket than her?
