  1. I know the Tokyo area is in a state of constant change, but I went back to my old neighborhood for the first time in years and was shocked enough to try and draw what I saw. Save for a few holdouts, the zone immediately surrounding the North exit of Mukogaokayuen station has been completely cleared. While many of the former buildings were no doubt past their prime and of questionable construction quality, it is still surprising to see a wholesale demolition of such a large area. Gone are the small homes and shops that lined the narrow alleyways of an organically formed neighborhood – to be replaced with what, I am not sure.

  2. Did you draw this? If so, please set up a site from which one can buy prints.

It’s odd that the old Daiei being demolished is included.

  3. It’s a booming area, many People want to live there.

I made a few smartphone photos from the demolition of the last old Houses around Noborito Eki, for me, as someone who always changed the trains there, it was sad.

There was also an exhibition about the pleasure Park, incl. the Monorail not that long ago.

  4. Some proud citizen of Kawasaki is going to be angry with you, but also pleased by the drawing itself.
