Doesn’t necessarily have to be a beach – suggestions for lakes, rivers, etc. are also welcome but perhaps there aren't any.
Besides the main question, I went to a popular beach in Chiba (Onjuku) and since there aren’t any designated places for changing into swimming trunks (unless I missed it) I was wondering how people usually do it in Japan. Is simply wrapping a towel around your waist to not expose yourself while changing frowned upon in Japan? Also, no one was swimming, there were only people surfing in wet suits – is this usually the case for Onjuku beach and many others beaches in the Tokyo area?
