Applying work visa with 6 months probation contract

Hi guys, as the title says, it’s my first time applying for work visa, but my workplace only gave me probation contract of 6 months

I wonder if this is a normal thing or is it better to ask for a fulltime contract instead?

I’m a bit bummed because i would like to have the possibility of getting more than 1 year visa, but with this the immigration guy told me i can only get 1 year maximum

I’m just being paranoid, and would like to know if this wont be a problem
