Is this too good to be true?

Hi All,

I am expected to go to Japanese Language School in the fall. I reached out to a few apartment websites that assist foreigners and one said that I could start the process overseas and just pay the rent to hold until I get there and meet with the agent when I land so I can pick up my keys.

Has anyone actively done this? Paying the rent there until I get there is not an issue. Just wanted to make sure I am not getting scammed. It is through Japan Room Finder, which seems to have helped a few people, but I want to double check.

Since I know it can take a while as a foreigner I am interested in seeing what I can get, since it will take a while anyway.

Any advice can help. I do have an airbnb set up there already as that was my original plan. But it is costing $1200 USD a month. I feel I can save that by securing an apartment overseas.

Thanks in advance!
