Notice that the article makes no mention of misinformation that is beneficial to Ukraine, such as the Ghost of Kyiv stuff, realistic looking video GAME footage being passed off as Russian helicopters being shot down, or a Ukrainian Strela 10 mobile AA battery being passed off as a “Russian tank” when it runs over a civilian car. Nope. Just whatever might make Russia look good in any light.
It also makes no mention of exactly “how” they intend to combat “misinformation”, whether it be to put a warning label on it (which respects your right ot know) or just remove it or block it (which means they think you are a sheeple too stupid to deal with it even after being warned.
Here is the real horrible thing though….Japan is not even remotely at war, but they are going to do official government censorship anyway. Even the most basic of necessary excuses to tinker with information in a so-called democracy has just been thrown out like old milk.
Makes you wonder what the hell is next.
Title is somewhat misleading. They’re creating a ministry position that is supposed to handle online disinformation for conflicts. They are also posting information about the conflict in Ukraine.
They are doing this because they expect China would use similar disinformation tactics in an invasion of Taiwan.
It’s not really prepping for a “hybrid war” as much as it’s making a position to examine propaganda.
