Flight with Korean Air, ICN-NRT operated by JIN Air

Hey there everyone,

Thinking to purchase a ticket to go see my family back home. There is a ticket on Korean Air, but the short haul leg is operated by JIN Air. I’m worried if there won’t be any issues due to 2 different airlines. Do they have baggage transfer agreement or will we be forced to go thru the checkin once again in Seoul? If that’s the case we probably will need visa, which is extra hassle.

If anyone had experience flying on Korean+JIN combination flights, I would appreciate if you could share your experience.

  1. Jin Air is a LCC which does short haul flights between JP and Korea. I’ve used them before for day trips, but never as a part of a longer transit.

I can’t help you with baggage specifics, but they do have a phone number: https://www.narita-airport.jp/jp/t_info/JNA or you can call Korean air too and ask same thing. It would probably be quicker than waiting for an armchair traveler from Reddit to give you wrong info.

  2. If you are buying the ticket via Korean Air, 100% OK. You won’t need to enter Korea and bags will be forwarded.

Also, passports from most countries haven’t needed a visa to enter for some months now. (Japan has been an exception)
