Is Akasaka a good area to stay in Tokyo to explore different areas of the city?

Currently planning a trip to Japan in August, and I'd like to stay in a place in Tokyo that makes it easy to access different parts of the city. Akasaka came recommended to me, is this a good idea or does anyone have a better suggestion? This is my first trip to Japan so I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the planning! Thank you!
