Hi!
Can't find the right flair for this. But I guess it is the right sub for my case as I am looking for advice for a hike as a resident here.
I am planning to go on my first serious hike (3000m) here on the week staring July 28 since it shouldn't be too crowded. I would like to keep it 1 night 2 days leaving from Tokyo Kamata. Worst case 2 nights, like in the off case I can't come down on time for an evening bus (if that even is how it works)
Thing is. I am going alone so I am really lost on what is the process like here since I am not yet fluent in Japanese even if I can get by for now. How do people usually go about a casual/recreational hike solo?
I plan to go to the Minami Alps, they seem the closest.
The way I am used to from my home country, I used to go with the hut as the targer, and then go to a peak based on how I feel the next day. But this time my target is to break the 3000m as a personal goal.
Is there a hut that allows me to do that in 1 day and return to the city? I know there are plenty of high peaks around. But I also heard that the huts have this weird requirement of you being there in the middle of the day by 4pm at the latest to pay if you want food.
Any advice? Maybe the way to go about it? What I mostly found on the internet is people who came here for a trip. Still good advice but not really the same situation.
The reason I want to keep it short with only one peak is that I am going solo. The man of the mountain is fun for a day or 2, but it gets boring quick from my experience.
I will leave some questions I am not sure about.
Is there like a main hut in the Minami alps from which you can go to different peaks?
Do you have to go directly with a peak in mind?
I am thinking about Akashidake it Higashidake since I saw the insanely expensive 千枚小屋 close to it. But no idea how to get there in the first place.
How do busses that take you to the trail work? I see some run only in the morning on the weekend. How do you return then?
If You have any advuce for such adventures please let me know. I am open to recommendations in the Minami Alps also.
Thanks a lot and sorry for the long post.
Also, not to worry, I am in top physical shape, only that I find it impossible to wake up before 7 in the morning, with the early mornings here it may be an important factor.
