Got a slips for Kokumin-Nenkin, but i have Kosei-Nenkin.

I moved to our new apartment in saitama couple of months ago and I recieved payment slips for Kokumin-Nenkin, my company already pays Kosei-Nenkin for me.

My friend said, its double charge, ask the city office on how to remove cancel from Kokumin-Nenkin. Can anyone guide me on how to cancel this, i dont want to pay Kokumin-Nenkin since the payout is lower and I would be investing stocks and other instruments which has higher returns in long term.

  1. No need to overthink it. Just go to your city hall / ward office and tell them that you received them by mistake. I’m not sure why you would have received them, but anyway going to your city hall will solve your problem.

  2. Kokumin and kosei are two separate systems. As far as I’m aware, you don’t have a choice about Kokumin assuming you’re between the ages of 20-59 and working.

When you went to register your new address in Saitama, I assumed you moved in from another Municipality?

Basically during address registration, you’re supposed to inform them you’re enrolled in Kosei Nenkin, signaling you don’t need to be enrolled in Kokumin Nenkin.

You might to make sure you’re also not enrolled in Kokumin Kenko Hoken too.

But also just to make sure…. When you moved to Saitama, you were actually employed with your current employer, right? I.e you were actually already enrolled in Shakai Hoken at the point in time you moved to Saitama?
