YouTube Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for a channel in Japanese that is like educational, but not on the language? I really like channels like Overly Sarcastic Productions and In a Nutshell. They talk about history, media and space. Or someone who is a sustainable YouTuber.

Trying to just immerse myself in more Japanese, but less of actual language and just exposure. And these are they types of channels I watch in English.

  1. I think Abroad In Japan is fun. There’s a fair variety of content. Some educational some more casual. It’s a rather well-known channel though, so I don’t know if this is the kind of recommendation you’re looking for.

  2. My fave japanese youtuber is Taniyan. He cooks huge amounts of food and eats it. He always does lots of research into his recipes, explains every step, and uses up every last bit possible of his ingredients which I really respect.

  3. If you like urban legends, rumours, and unsolved mysteries from both Japan and the rest of the world, [うわさの探偵たち](https://youtube.com/channel/UCnKks3KuOeQrKPUXkv8nOzg) talks about those. The presenter speaks very clearly and has word-for-word Japanese subtitles onscreen.

If you prefer videos on traditional Japanese cuisine, [てこ蔵](https://youtube.com/channel/UC8G-q8MOMX3Ohj4WZk7lbVQ/) might be nice. There’s no voiceover, but there is onscreen text in Japanese, plus English closed caption translations.

[Nobita from Japan](https://youtube.com/c/FindYourLoveinJapan) does English-subbed interviews with Japanese people for their opinions on issues regarding Japan. If I recall, his older videos were mostly in English.

  4. If your Japanese is decent then I recommend Rちゃん she’s a clothing designer but talks funny things like a hostess. Nearly everything she says has subtitles so that would help you learn Japanese
