Hi everyone, going to Okinawa for the first time in a few weeks. All I want to do is sunbathe, swim a little and eat all day – can be all on the same beach if necessary, I don’t mind! Won’t be renting a car but then I am wondering where is best to stay? I guess there are lots of hotels near nice beaches that hopefully I can get the bus / a taxi to just once on the way there and once back to the airport but what is the best beach to stay at given this?

What about Tiger Beach in Onna-Son? There are few hotels as well there.
Or maybe Chatan Park Sunset Beach. It’s close to American Village and Araha Beach.
Most of the good hotels have shuttle bus service, so without knowing your price range, kind of hard to say. My favorite is Alivila, sitting in the patio or poolside during sunset is so relaxing, the hotel lighting up for the evening is also worth seeing. The beach itself is ok, food is good, Ryukyu glass factory nearby, lots of water activities.
In the south, near Araha beach, Chatan and American village; but be prepared for many tourists.
In the north, most resorts have their own beach areas and are often within walking distance (<2km) of a local places to eat. Good idea might be to check google maps nearby restaurants for the hotels you look into.
