Hey hey yall! As the title boasts, I'm considering moving to Japan to teach English. Buuuut.. I have a ton of questions.
I am already a teacher here in NYC, I teach science. I'm sick of it here though and need a MAJOR change. I'm already teaching myself Japanese through apps and such, so that when I (or if I do) move out there, I can at least move around.
I've done some research on the current minimum wage in Tokyo as of 2024 (¥1,113/hr or ¥192,920/month gross, based off of a 40hr work week) and some 1bd rental apartments near Tokyo.
I've also seen/read that fulltime EFL teachers make an average of ¥220k-300k a month unless you work at some kind of international school where they pay way more. Is this true?
Any and all help is welcomed.
