I just can’t wrap my head around the usage of こと sometimes
I know it’s for abstract things but there are so many situations in which i simply can’t understand it’s function…..
For example what is the function of こと in the sentence
その出会いはある日の職場の飲み会でこと
Why is there koto?

こと has way too many uses to list, here it’s talking acting as “event” or something similar.
“That encounter was something which happened (こと) at the company drinking party one day.
