Long ago, I was learning Japanese by playing Duolingo. So there were translation exercises for ‘thank you.’ Of course, the translation is「ありがとう」However, another way of playing Duolingo is instead of learning Japanese, tell Duolingo you know Japanese and want to learn English. This is called ‘reverse learning the language.’ I started doing that.
So there's this app that allows you to mine Duolingo. Turns out, Duolingo already knows the answer before it asks you the question. The answer is stored somewhere in the app (only accessible by programmers). So Duo asks you for ‘what is the significance of “thank you”?’ And you have to answer in Japanese. Of course they'll accept「ありがとう」but through mining the app I found there were heck tons of other alternatives accepted. I feel really stupid for not copying them all but what I remember well was「ありむずかう」Now that I'm an avid dictionary user (Jisho.org) I can't really find this expression. There were about 50 variations of telling someone thank you and this was just in my early days I'm really sorry I can't remember.
Is this way of voicing it「ありむずかう」legit? If you know any other way let me know. I just learned「忝い（かたじけない）」which I know most probably wasn't there on Duo!
