kami issues, whats the deal ? (inquiry)

I've seen old threads talking about the common occurrence of the (seemingly) unexplained conundrum between foreigners (explicitly, from what I've seen) that experience hair loss while in Japan.

*(guess I should add, im not male or in my 30s, not sure why anyone thought that but it was funny to read people saying I'm naturally balding and my fault for not clarifying)

Some claim a shower head filter solved their issue, others "destressing", others taking supplements (such as for hair, or increasing protein intake etc.) however many have ruled out such things as diet, stress, or other factors and are left with only things such as water content (that apparently a filter won't fix) humidity or some other environmental factor.

I'm curious if there was ever a determination on this issue.

I've also read that Japanese shampoos and conditioners are "harsher than foreign brands" but 1. haven't seen any support for this claim and 2. have read about issues where people used their usual, foreign brands they brought with and still had the issue.

I'm aware that many people experience this issue for many different reasons, but for everyone that still has it after none of the above works, which is still a lot, there must be a commonality.

my best guess is water or humidity, as stated above. what does everyone else think? I've never lived in Japan longer than almost a year at a time, so my accounts are limited.

additionally, ive read other accounts of people claiming it's an "adjustment issue" and that people merely need time to acclimate, however, that obviously still doesn't apply to people that continue to experience it.

also from what I've read, any updates from people that returned to origin countries said the issue corrected after X amount of time.

lastly, I have seen many recommended to either see a dermatologist and/or to get their water tested, and little to no updates on results from either. very curious to hear about anything like that too.
