Safe to (Wild)Campin in Japan?

Hi,

I know that in Japan Camping is very popular and that many camping spaces are free and that even wildcamping is kinda a grey area. However, I was wondering how safe is it to Wildcamp in Japan? I have seen so many articles of increased bear attacks and I am also pretty afraid of snakes/spiders. Does anyone have any information?
