Hello all,
Just wanting to get a sanity check for our itinerary in Kyoto. Planning to have a day trip there on Monday 9 September.
We are actually going to be staying in Osaka and catching a train up to Kyoto station to arrive around 9am to start the day <- happy to alter this if this is too early/late.
We have 2 youngish kids (5 and 7) and a total of 7 people coming along. We have decided to hire a car with a driver to meet us at Kyoto Station for 8 hours to save on walk/travel time.
Here is the proposed plan of attack:
Start – Kyoto Station (9am) |
---|
Fushimi inari (1 hour) |
Kiyomizu-dera (1.5 hours – as this may take awhile to walk around?) |
Lunch – Nishiki market / Gion (2 hours) |
Kinkakuji / Ryoan Ji (if time permits) (1 hour) |
Split of itinerary here |
Group 1 (with kids) Samurai Museum (1-1.5 hours) |
Group 2 Higashiyama Jisho-ji (1-1.5 hours) |
Driver would stay with Group 2 and join up with Group 1 to finish at Kyoto Station |
Finish – Kyoto Station |
Does that seem like a reasonable plan for the day? We are willing to cut the museum + Higashiyama Jisho-ji depending on if the other activities take longer than expected, but wanted to gauge whether what we have here is too ambitious or not ambitious enough.
