Do people on the internet use more katakana or hiragana?

I’m learning hiragana and I’ve seen some katakana on the internet and wondered if learning katakana is way more nessesary than I thought (Also i’m gonna try to learn katakana eventually too)

I learned I got it I’m gonna have to learn kanji, you see I’ll try to use a method in which I learned english. English isn’t my first language and now I’m pretty good at it but there was a time english was like gibberish to me. Something that helped me learn english was playing pokemon, they had no option for my language so I choose english since I knew the basics.

And the method is basically you know the basics of a language, some words, phrase structure, writing, and you start to read or hear content in that language, and I used Reddit for that method too, it helped me better my english a lot, it’s where I learned what “pretentious” means. And I would know the basics and when I saw something that I didn’t know what it was I searched it, that’s how I learned what “pretentious”. Also this method also includes learning from experience, I learned how to use certain english words by seeing how others use it, by repeatidly seeing a word used in certain ways I understood how it’s used just like a child that is learning to speak

Idk why I put that in this post

  1. You definitely wanna learn Katakana since it’s used for lots of loan words from other languages, names, stylization and what else there is. If you want to be able to read fluently you won’t get around the three writing systems.

  2. There is no avoiding Katakana, is it pretty integral. It’s kind of fun reading it and trying to figure out what foreign word it’s taken from.

  3. Both, more hiragana but katakana for most loanwords, made up words and abrebiations and when people just think it’s cool. So yes, you need both.

    Kanji is also not uncomon.

  4. KATAKANA is essential if you travel…

Don’t go to a restaurant without knowing katakana or you will be in for a surprise !

  5. You ultimately can’t get away without all three especially since katakana is sometimes treated like italics or a different font.

Ultimately hiragana and katakana take like a week of learning for most learners. Compared to actually learning the language, they are just flashes in the pan.

  6. Do people on the Internet use more es or os? Should I focus on uppercase or lowercase letters?

If you do want kanji-free materials, try ones targeted at children. To use your own example, Pokemon games ask if you want regular Japanese or kana-only Japanese (really old games only supported kana because the resolution was too low).
