So I have a Colorado driver's license which means that I do not need to take a written or practical test to get my Japanese driver's license. However, those requirements were something that I spotted on the Tokyo Metropolitan Police website and also only seemed to include 3 licensing sites. My question is, if I live in Osaka, will I be able to get my license in Tokyo without any problems and drive with it?
I wouldn't mind taking a weekend trip up there with my wife, and she will call and ask on my behalf next week to find out, but she thinks that you need to get your driver's license from the prefecture you live in. It would be helpful if anyone here knew and could spare me the weekend wondering about it.
