Travelling by train between Nikko and Aizu-wakamatsu

Hello! I am currently reserving seats for travelling around places in northern honshu for around a week in August, and I am struggling to understand booking between Nikko and Aizu-Wakamatsu.

Currently we are planning on stopping at ryuokyo george on the Tobu line from Nikko, and I have booked reserved seats between shimo-imaichi station and yunishigawa onsen as I was unable to select ryuokyo george as a destination even though it seems that all trains stop at ryuokyo station. Will this be okay or is there another step to take?

The next part to book is from ryuokyo station to ashinimaki onsen station – I see that half the distance is on the tobu line while half is on the aizu-tetzudo line. I thought I would be able to book from ryuokyo station to aizu-tajima station and then transfer to the local train, however, it says that services on only the aizu line cannot be reserved – what should we do instead? Is it safe to assume seats will be able to be booked on the day?

I am also wondering if anyone had any tips for travelling on the aizu tetzudo section as apparently this train is cash only. Thank you in advance!
