I’ve been in 3 apartments so far in Japan and in every single one, the water alternates between hot and cold every 1-2 min. In my most recent place, I can even control the hottest temperature the water goes and it becomes scalding hot to cold and back.
Is this a common problem with the showers or water heaters in Japan or am I just unlucky?

Mine does this too but I put it down to having a really old apartment.
I’ve never had this problem and I lived in both an older apaato and newer mansion.
The only time I had this happen was in older apartments that had undersized water heaters that couldn’t keep up when I was in the shower and wife was washing dishes or we had laundry running at the same time.
Never had this problem. Certainly not acceptable. I’d be involving the landlord.
Stayed in 3 places this year and happened in all of them.
