Is it possible to just buy “limited express reserved seat” portion of the ticket on tokaido shinkansen in advance?
Why? We want to travel from Tokyo to Osaka with one night stopover in Nagoya. So the idea is to buy “base” ticket from Tokyo to Osaka and two “reserved” seat tickets (tokyo-nagoya and nagoya-osaka). I wonder if this is possible to do in advance online? I can not find a way. But i know its possible for example on Tohoku shinkansen vie JR East website.
