Feedback for 5 days in Kyoto

Hi guys! my (M25) family (M20s, 70s;F50s) and I will be spending 5 days in Kyoto as part of our Japan trip and because there's so much to do I wanted feedback. Mostly because my step dad is 70ish, yet a bit fit, and google maps distances seem close but one never knows. BTW hours are approximate, not fixed, mostly its just to plan the day around time spent in each place. If its too long/little time on any place let me know

Day 0 – Saturday: We'll be leaving Koyasan and visiting Nara on our way to Kyoto. Checking in at our Kyoto Hotel around 19:30-20.

Day 1 – Sunday:

  • 10hs: Nishiki Market
  • 11:30 to 13hs: Tea Ceremony near the market.
  • 14hs: Imperial Palace. Ideally we arrive a bit earlier to catch the tour of 14hs
  • 15.45hs: Nijo Castle
  • Free

Day 2 – Monday:

  • 9:30hs Walking Tour: the tour visits Gion, Chion-In, Sannensaka, Yasaka Pagoda
  • 12:00hs: Tour ends, grab lunch and visit Yasaka Shrine if not visited by the tour
  • 13:30hs: Kennin-ji temple
  • 16:00hs: Kiyomizu-Dera
  • 18:30 to 20:30: Another Tour of Gion but focused on Geisha history
  • Dinner in Gion or Pontocho

Day 3- Tuesday:

  • 9:30hs: Nanze-ji
  • 10:30hs: Eikan-do
  • 11:30hs: Higashiyama by way of the Philosopher's path
  • 13:00hs: Kinkaku-ji
  • 14:45hs: Daitoku-ji
  • Free

Day 4 – Wednesday: I really don't know how much time one spends in these places, so its probably off haha

  • 08:30hs: queue up for Arabica Arashiyama and ideally get a coffee at 9 when it opens

  • 10:00hs: Gio-ji

  • 11:00hs: Torimoto street

  • 11:30hs: Nenbutsu-ji Adashino & Otari

  • 12:00hs: walk back to Arashiyama and have lunch near the river

  • 13:30hs: Tenryu-ji and the bamboo forest

  • 15:00hs: Either the monkey park, Somekobo Yumeyusai or the Sagano Romantic Train. If you have any strong opinions here let me know, I really don't know what to pick

  • 17:00hs: Free

Day 5 – Thursday: My birthday, so if you have any good recs for dinner (casual and lively – or maybe omakase) that aren't too expensive they're very welcome

  • 08:00hs: Fushimi Inari: Plan to do the whole mountain but will see there.
  • 11:00hs: Train to Uji
  • 11:30 to 13hs: Walk along the main street and try matcha somewhere
  • 13:00hs: Byodo-in
  • 14:00hs: Back to Kyoto. I'll really like to go to the Manga museum but idk if we're spending too little time in Uji. My family could stay here by themselves since they're not into manga
  • 15:00hs: Manga museum
  • 17:00hs: Free and get bday dinner, ideally in a lively area like pontocho

Thank you so much for reading and your feedback:DD
