A foreigner with 1-day insurance crashed into my car. Anything to worry about?

My car was stopped and was rear-ended. Police said it's 100% his fault and he owned it. The other guy had 1-day insurance from 7-Eleven and showed me the paper proof of it right then. I confirmed the insurance period was valid when the accident happened and the insurance was indeed on his name.

My insurance provider contacted his insurance 2 days ago (working days, not weekend/holiday) and told me his insurance is still verifying if the insurance conditions are valid. Is that long wait normal? Another time when someone crashed on me (when I was parked) their insurance confirmed they will pay everything on the same day of the crash, so I'm a bit worried with the delay this time.

I have the lawyer option in the insurance and the agent dealing with my case asked my permission to forward all the info and consult with the lawyer "just in case". This was also a bit worrying, but he didn't give me any more details.

More info: the car he was driving was obviously not a rental (which would have made the insurance invalid) since it had trinkets all over the interior, and I doubt it was his own car (also invalid for 1 day insurance). Accident was caught on camera. Nobody was hurt.

In 14 years driving here in Japan twice someone crashed into my car. Both times foreigner drivers, FML!
