I hope this isn't violating any rules, I felt like I needed more personalized advice.
So me and my brother (both half-Japanese w/ citizenship) have had a work exchange type of deal in Workaway, part-time, get paid hourly + accomodation*, all good. We had agreed to work up until around November/December and so we were relatively chill on the whole 'finding other jobs' part.
Up until just yesterday, in which we were told that because the company is changing hands, we were being let go at the end of July, and will be allowed to stay in our shared housing until the end of August. Fast forward to today, now we've been told we only have until about halfway through August, which is about a month from now on the dot.
Given that, finding a new job and a place to stay is back at the top of the menu. Right now we are in Awaji-shi, and would preferably like to stay in or around Kansai (Kobe/Osaka) for reasons, but anything will do if need be.
Our Japanese is not fluent but conversational, we do not have a crazy amount of experience (have worked in 2 other places, only 1.5 yrs or so in Japan) or special qualifications, so really just looking for any kind of menial labor.
As a last resort, we do have a co-worker who offered to put us up in Hiroshima temporarily but we'd still need a job. Hopefully we don't have to do that. If we ended up there, we do have savings that could keep us afloat for at least a few months.
If you have any advice as to what a 20M and 24M pair can do to not go homeless, that would be nice. Also let me know what renting a place might be like because we could very well end up having to rent our own place, and we've never done that before, so yeah. Thank you in advance.
