What does the inside of a Japanese hospital look like?

I’m writing a scene in a story that takes place in the corridors of a Japanese hospital. I’m curious about the details I could use to describe it, especially in comparison to North American hospitals.

  1. Physically, pretty close to the same as US hospitals, except none of the rooms have the number 4 in them. 101, 102, 103, 105, etc. They seem to be a bit quieter, as well, as the nurses and doctors are basically silent unless behind closed doors, not to mention that they seem a lot more empty- no carts in the hallways, visitors/patients moving about, or other hustle and bustle. The following notes may not be necessary, but the food is usually quite good and is generally prepared by a nutritionist (and sometimes catered directly to the patients needs). In addition, patients often stay for multiple days even for minor surgeries, with time for preparing for the surgery and monitoring thereafter. Many procedures that would be outpatient in the US could result in a 2-3 day hospital stay in Japan.
