Former JETs who returned home then came back to live in Japan- How’d you do it?

I was an ALT from 2015-2019. Ive since gotten my masters degree in education and am working in my hometown as a teacher in Hawaii. I love it but can’t shake the feeling of wanting to move back to Japan permanently.

Excluding marriage (as Im gay and it’s not legal there) how’d you manage to move back to Japan? What avenue did you pursue to obtain a visa?
