4 Weeks Trip to Japan in July/August (Rough draft)

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend and I (mid twenties) will be spending 4 weeks in Japan in July/August. When traveling, it is important for us to be able to explore the cities. This means taking a leisurely stroll through the cities and not necessarily getting to know all the tourist spots. We also enjoy being out in nature and walking around. But we would also like to do something active, perhaps forge a ring, attend a matcha course, take part in a sake tour or something similar. We have now planned an approximate route, but still have some questions:

  • Do we spend too much/too little time in certain cities?
  • Would you skip certain cities or add others?
  • We would like to spend a night in a ryokan, do you have any tips or experience?
  • Does the route make sense?
  • Do you have any recommendations for restaurants/accommodation/to dos/sightseeing spots?
  • Is the Japan Rail Pass worth it? (We will maybe travel from Hiroshima to Tokyo by plane)
  • Could you recommend a good spot for omakase?
  • There are a few festivals in Japan in the summer, do you have any recommendations?
