Me and a friend are travelling to Tokyo in a few days, and we were thinking about bringing our skateboards to use as transportation around the city. However we were wondering if it’s generally permissible to skateboard in the streets of Tokyo, and if it is even legal. We want to be respectful towards the culture and norms there, which my impression of is being very calm and not standing out in crowds. As skateboards can make some noise and take up space in the streets we were worried that we would get dirty looks from locals for skateboarding. Can someone living or that have lived in Tokyo tell me how they would react to skateboarding in the streets there, and if it’s a good idea or not to bring our boards? Thanks in advance 🙂
