Hi everyone, we are looking into how to spend 7 days in Okinawa in late August and will appreciate any pointers or tips. We're not trying to get a concrete itinerary yet, but just something solid enough to be able to book hotels.
With what we could look into, we're currently thinking about:
* Day 1 – land in afternoon, evening in Naha and accomodation in Naha
* Day 2 – spend in Naha, in the evening move to Zamami Island and sleep there
* Day 3 – spend in Zamami Island and sleep there
* Day 4 – move to Nago (by renting a car and visiting spots on the way throughout the day), and stay in Nago
* Days 5-6 – accomodation in Nago, explore northern half of the island
* Day 7 morning – move from Nago to airport for 12pm flight (includes returning car)
The idea is basically to use Nago as base to explore the north half of the island, and mostly skip the southern half, with a visit to Zamami, since we couldn't find much info about good activities there. Are there any glaring issues with this idea, or anything impossible/very sketchy in the plan, weird balance of days, a cool area we missed and should check out, etc?
We can optionally "steal" another day for Nago by extending the trip to 8 days – is this particularly worth it? One concern is that 2 days for Nago and the area/national park would be too short.
In terms of preferences, I like food and my travel partner likes nature (although I'm against too difficult/tiring nature activities). Any random tips you could give will be super helpful!
