Coupons, min maxing Japan life

Any recommendations for coupon apps? I've been using the Skylark app since it's then only chain(s) near my place. It can save quite a bit, if you don't buy extras just because there is a coupon. I would use McDonald's app if I ate there more often.

  1. Points are a method. I’ve found Rakuten and D-point, when combined with Matsukiyoshi points and used at their drugstores, are easy to accumulate and just as easy to use.

You can really level up that efficacy by going all in on the Rakuten ecosystem. Search here for advice on that.

  2. Consider 金券ショップ, either in person or online. They’re less helpful for the biggest chains, but they can be great for small to medium-sized chains. For instance, てけてけ has about 20 locations in Tokyo, and their vouchers cost about 60% of face value. So if you’re thinking ahead, there’s never any reason to pay full price.

  3. If you live in Tokyo JRE Point is a no brainer, mostly because if you commute and work pays for it, you are basically earning points for no outlay.
