My family member (who does not speak Japanese) lost a filling in one of the tooth cavities. She is visiting us in Tokyo for a month and does not have Japanese insurance. She has some travel insurance (with a US$100 copay and a max US$250 coverage for dental work).
Few questions:
- How much do dental fillings usually cost out of pocket? The one she had was done in 2012 for a molar, and she did not have a problem until it came out.
- Could the filling be completed on the first visit? I will call around and ask dental offices for their availability, too, but wanted to see what others' experience has been (especially for those not on NHI)
- I shortlisted the following clinics based on recommendations in this sub. Could you share recommendations based on your experience? We are looking for an option that is not super costly and will let her have a peaceful trip until she is back in her home country and do any follow-up work if needed.
- United Dental
- Trust Dental
- Hitomi Dental
- Lion Heart Dental
- Motoazabu Familie Dental
- Yamate Dental
- Avant Dental
Areas in Meguro-ku would be a preference but we don't mind traveling farther out if others had a very good experience. TIA!
