Dental cement in Japan

I have a bridge connecting my front teeth, which is several teeth long. Yesterday it fell out while eating a sandwich. I brush my teeth at least 10 times per day because I’m a smoker. So it wasn’t like I didn’t try to care for the fitting.

I would like to know if anyone knows of any dental cement in Japan to reattach my bridge. I looked on Amazon, and it comes up with a load of superglue, which I’m not putting in my mouth. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I assume you know you’re brushing your teeth too much and likely damaging the enamel *more* because of it?

  2. If you have health insurance go to the dentist. Will cost close to nothing. You are probably not used to a good health care system from wherever you are. (And that’s not an insult, I am trying to take the scare off you)

  3. Thank you for all your replies.
I can’t see a dentist for financial reasons 🙁 I was just wondering if there are any dental cements sold in pharmacies in Japan like back home.

  4. Brushing too much or the wrong way is as bad as no brushing. You should stick to max 3 times a day and not too strong otherwise you will damage the enamel-gum junction area…
If you are a legal resident you must have the social insurance, so pick any nearby dentist offices and go…you are no longer in a 3rd world country.

  5. You can ask how much it will cost before doing anything. Also you can get temporary filling if the cost is too much for you. With plastic solution you should be okay for several months and save up for silver filling. It should cost you 2000~5000 if the issue is not big

  6. Superbond, Unifast, Chemiace, Repairsin….

All much more expensive than going to a dentist (even without insurance) and not sold to the general public. Also, easy way to get chemical burns or f*cking up your teeth permanently.

    So… GO TO A DENTIST.

  7. For all the people saying dentists are cheap: they are only cheap(ish) if the procedure is covered by insurance. Anything above an essential minimum gets very expensive esp if deemed “cosmetic”. For a single dental crown I was quoted $1600 in Tokyo for a white crown, $400 for metal: after shopping around I got it done for $1100. Braces run $5k – $10k.

Consultations are free though and you can get a good idea of prices from websites. My advice to OP is to phone several dentists (or get someone fluent in Japanese) and ask about ballpark prices. Don’t whatever you do superglue your teeth or you will end up in the ER or paying some dentist even more to fix.

  8. Where I first moved to Tokyo, I had a filling fall out. Not knowing any dentists, I went to the closest one (and they seem to be next to every station and in every mall), and he cleaned out the hole and replaced the filling. With national health insurance, the cost to me was about 200 yen—go to the dentist. Even without insurance, the cost will be minimal. As others have said, you will spend more on DIY fixes than just getting it done right.
