Has anyone ever received a letter from their health insurance requesting that they write, in details, the reason / cause of the injury they sought treatment for at a clinic or hospital?
In all my years living here, it’s the first time I get such a letter. While I understand they want to ensure my injury did not stem from a car accident (in which case it would be a different insurer), I was still taken aback since:
1- Everything was explained and discussed with the doctor, so that information should already be available.
2- This is the first time I ever had to do this. Is this like income tax random audit that can sometimes happen; or did me cracking a rib raise some kind of flags?
3- Asking me to write an essay on a piece of paper like a highschool term paper in 2024 is so very odd to me. Yeah yeah, something something fax machines still in use in Japan.
